Visiting New York City, September 2018. What to DO, What to SEE, What to WEAR, What You will FIND on a Shop Gotham Program

September 9th, 2018

September is one of the MOST beautiful months to visit NYC. Summer is now behind us, but the mild weather offers a bounty of things to do.  Each month we share a few tidbits which are NOT in your typical tour book.

What to DO:
1) Get a ticket to the Tribeca Tv Fest Sept 20 – 23rd.
Love Ray Donovan? sneak peak the first episode of the season and then listen to Liev Shreiber and and Jon Voight discuss the show . Just one example. Run dont walk!

2)if you LOVE fashion, check out 29Rooms (Brooklyn), an interactive exhibition in honor of fashion week featuring 29 rooms designed by retail brands, artists, celebrities and other creative

WHAT to SEE:
2)Take a stroll to Gape at the limestone homes of the upper East Side.  Get out of midtown and walk some of the magnificent streets of the upper east side to see how the “other half lives”.
The blocks of between Lexington and Park are particularly beautiful. Start at East 67th (lex -park) and continue to East 78th (lex to park)

What to WEAR
It’s simple: bring your most stylish dark colored light weight apparel. Be it jeans, dresses or leather jackets: make sure they are well fitted, and in style.

Mother and Daughter NYC Shopping

November 5th, 2017
Designer Showroom Clothing

Sometimes too much is well.. just too much. NYC can feel like that. Including all the retail options.

One of the great shopping mysteries has always been the Garment Center District. What lies behind those many windows of those many buildings where the designers create their wares for the stores.

The Garment Center “insider” shopping tour will unmask those secrets and we have found its a wonderful jaunt for moms and daughters (ages 18 and older) to shop at Wholesale and learn a bit about this mysterious and legendary fashion industry.

All guests are sent home with a complimentary list of Sample Sales for post tour independent shopping. Which will keep anyone busy with shopping fun for many many hours.  PEAK Sample Sale Season is November 15 to December 15

Happy Shopping

Fashion Bloggers in Our Showrooms

December 6th, 2013

This week we hosted a group of fashion and beauty bloggers from the local New York area on a Garment Center tour. As it happens, we are in the height of sample sale season. Not only did the bloggers love our wholesale showrooms, but the sample sales we chose for the shopping itinerary that day were also booming! Custom group tours are one of our primary services and we especially love to create itineraries for the fashion savvy! #shopgotham

a Day in the Life of Shop Gotham: Uniglo and +J – steal the show

February 19th, 2010

So… we at Shop Gotham recently took some major fashion magazine editors shopping. Would love to drop names but  alas, cannot. Suffice it to say, these stylin’ gals have seen it all and then some. They had just come from the top 2010 fashion “shows” in Bryant Park, have been courted directly by all important designers and likely over time received plentiful freebies. So we hit some of the uberfab independents in NYC.  Yes, they loved Kirna Zabete, Deco Jewels, and Opening Ceremony. But where did they drop their $?? At UNIGLO!!! They were pumped up about the new + J line (Jil Sander), specifically the black jackets in 3 lengths, which are oh so Prada reminiscent, but a mere $79- $99. Who would have thunk?   www.shopgotham.com
