Shopping Guide: Online Edition

With half of New York still reeling from the effects of Hurricane Sandy, Shop Gotham has had to cancel this week’s tours.  But we would never let a natural disaster interfere with our ability to shop!  Listed here are three of our favorite online stores to peruse at your pleasure…

1.  One Kings Lane

The name reminds us just slightly of Number 17 Cherry Tree Lane, the fictional home of Jane and Michael Banks.  Mary Poppins would love this home store, which features classic furniture and decor with just a touch of whimsy.  We love the limited-time Tastemaker Tag Sales, featuring discounts on items from the hottest interior designers.  We also love the Vintage and Designer Picks section, filled with “one-of-a-kind pieces that have a story to tell.”  Your story?  “What I Bought During the Hurricane.”

2.  Out of Print Clothing

This clothing line celebrates all things literary by featuring iconic and out of print book covers.   Their T-shirts and accessories will enchant book lovers and romantics alike.   Their items also make for unique gifts– keep in mind that Christmas is just around the corner!   This child’s Charlotte’s Web tee makes us weep just a little bit.  You can also find their line at select boutiques and book stores in various cities.

3.  Etsy.com

To those who know about Etsy, this seems like a no-brainer.  To those who don’t, GET READY!  Etsy is the worldwide web’s ultimate place for buying and selling homemade and vintage items directly from vendors around the world.  There’s something for everyone on Etsy, and the site lends itself to lost hours spent clicking through one darling design after another.   A simple search for “Accessories, women” turned up nearly 35,000 results, including this darling bridal shoe clip for $16.  It’s the perfect way to while away the hours waiting for things to return to normal.  Until then, happy shopping!
