Focus on NYC Designer

June 22nd, 2010

There are so many successful designers in NYC, most whose names you will never hear of. On our Shop Gotham shopping tours, we will introduce you to some of them. And commencing today, we will do an occasional spotlight piece, for those of you who never make ot to NYC. Poor souls.

Elizabeth Gillett Elizabeth Gillett began as a trained painter and printmaker. But the story goes that when in college she couldn’t find a replacement for a favorite lost scarf. She designed her own, and within months the same velvet scarf was being sold at Barney’s New York.

Today 18 yrs later, Elizabeth Gillett’s lines scream femininity with an edge. Of-the-moment scarves in all the right hues and textures, flowing and gauzy wraps, open knit sweaters that hug the body just right for women of all ages. Individual pieces made of unique materials such as tribal printed cottons and wool gauze with sequins and beading, for coverups & lingerie.

A long time New Yorker, Elizabeth is inspired by the sights and sounds of her city including films, museums & friends. We love her items and so will you. Check out Elizabeth Gillett in Neimans, Nordstroms and fine boutiques nation wide. you will be glad you did. www.elizabethgillett.com
