WHAT IS A SAMPLE SALE? you ask.

All fashion designers create more items than they will sell each season(overstock). They also create individual pieces each season for the buyers to look at (samples)

At the end of the season, they like to sell off these items at a deep discount (Sample Sales!)sample-sale-sign

While once upon a time, these items were just in sample slzes (typically something small), now one can find all range of sizes.

Holiday time in NYC is simply a bonanza of Sample Sales with a dozen to 2 dozen each day from mid-november to mid-december. Not only can one score from exciting brands you know. but its a great opportunity to uncover new ones. And the prices! EXPECT far better than the Department Store sales.

Coming to the city this weekend? Trying to plan your outfits but don’t know where to begin? Holiday Windows in NYC


Holiday Windows are popping up at our favorite retailers throughout the city-the best time of year. It’s like visiting an outdoor fashion museum, but for free! Join the fun and excitement this holiday season, grab a coffee, take a stroll & enjoy the Holiday Windows along Fifth Avenue.

An ideal afternoon: Start with us, Shop Gotham, in the historical Garment District. Our fashionable and chic tour guides will navigate you through the city’s ultimate shopping mecca: private wholesale designer showrooms and plentiful designer sample sales. Since you will be in the “holiday shopping spirit” after all of your fab purchases on our tour, pop over to Bryant Park for a quick lunch break. Check out the Winter Village shops at Bryant Park and ice skating rink as well, it’s quite the social scene! Pop over towards 5th Avenue and walk (slowly) uptown towards Central Park @59th St and “window shop” into the sunset!!

Check out this new amazing SoHo Pop-up @boohoo !! Boohoo.com opened their pop-up shop (462 W Broadway between Prince and Houston Sts) in SoHo until Nov 14. The sale consists of 2 floors, both men’s and women’s apparel and accessories, prices ranging between $20 – $60. Super chic items & extremely affordable prices-exactly what SoHo is lacking.
