Other fun things to check out if you are in New York on Mother’s Day weekend:

Madison Square Eats- Madison Square Park (23rd-26th St)

More than 30 food vendors occupy Worth Square for this month-long pop-up market. New eats include Southern curry chicken wings from Pig & Khao and rock-shrimp burgers from L&W Oyster Co., while veteran vendors like Roberta’s, Red Hook Lobster Pound and Macaron Parlour will be back with their tried-and-true favorites.

Brooklyn Flea Market in Fort Green/Williamsburg

Fort Green on Saturday and TBD in Williamsburg on Sunday are the locations for this weekends Brooklyn Flea Market. Pick up a couple hand-hammered stack rings, visit Sharon London for easy-fitting tube dresses ($78) and vintage locket earrings ($12), or Hartford Denim Co. for quality-denim goods, like hoodies ($325) and aprons ($110). While perusing crafts and collectibles by local artisans, munch on some local bites, such as People’s Pops’ shaved ice and ice pops made from local, fresh fruit.

Chelsea Highline Park (30th St to 14th St along 10th Ave)

Built on an abandoned railway track, the space is ingenious in its use of reclaimed industrial detritus, a necessity in footage-starved Manhattan. But what we like best is how the pathway takes you above the city while keeping you rooted in urban life: Where else can you walk through a field of wildflowers or sprawl on a lush lawn as cabs zoom along the street beneath you?
